The Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy Rises Again

President Obama charged that Republican leaders are engaged in a vast right-wing conspiracy to kill health care reform in order to repeat the 1994 mid-term takeover of Congress, which followed the defeat of President Clinton's reform plan.

I used to think that Democrat demonization of Republicans (and vice versa) was no more than politics, but now that the Dems have absolute unassailable majorities in the House and Senate and also control the White House, their attempts to blame Republicans for the health care fiasco is just spiteful. The Dems cannot accept electoral victory with grace. They keep kicking even when their opponent is unconscious on the mat. It is completely dishonorable.

They feel if they don't kick now they will get kicked in the next election, I think.

Ummm, Republicans dominate Utah politics in exactly the same manner and behave exactly in the same manner. They are entirely disdainful of Democrats who have no power at all in the Utah Legislature. They have had an absolute majority for decades and demagogue shamelessly, pulling out stereotypical bogeymen during and after elections . If the Democratic Party were to fold in Utah, and this isn't such a foolish idea, the Republican Party would rejoice.

If one can say that Democrats in Washington are completely dishonorable in their treatment of their adversaries, it can be said unhesitantly as well of Utah Republicans.

Perhaps I don't follow Utah politics as closely as I should, but I don't recall Utah Republican leadership blaming Democrats for failed policies. Maybe they have, but I just don't recall reading about it.

You are right, they do not blame them for failed policies as your original posted indicated. But they do use dems, liberals, gays, and environmentalists, and others as constant threats (that's why I used the word demagogue) that require Republican diligence even when there is no real threat of anything because these groups are powerless.

That is a boo-hoo-poor-us argument, I know, but it does feel like you're getting kicked when you are down, and it feels less than honorable.
