ACLU sues a Muslim school and the Minnesota Department of Education
The ACLU has always seemed to have some grudge against Christianity and often ignores other religions that do essentially the same thing as Christian churches. It seems that finally, the ACLU has decided to apply the same standard to another religion. TIZA is a Muslim charter school that has long engaged in religious education and has received taxpayer money (via various routes). It remains to be seen if this is an isolated case for the ACLU.

As you know, I am on the ACLU of Utah Board of Directors. I can assure you that I would leap to encourage litigation against any public school professing any religion. I think that the cases you are apt to hear about have to do with Christian religious issues simply because they are such a vast majority.
The ACLU is not a perfect organization. It too much pick and choose its battles. At the ACLU of Utah that is what we do on the board, help set priorities according to the gravity of the problems and the amount of $ and pro-bono help we have at our disposal.
Actually, I didn't know that you are on the ACLU of Utah Board. We don't have a large Muslim population here, so Minnesota's situation is entirely different. Nevertheless, I see the Minnesota case to be an excellent example of some elements of American society showing deference to Muslims for reasons that are not entirely clear to me. Perhaps, it is one of fear, which produces a placating attitude, but that is a mere supposition.
Well, I am delighted that the ACLU is taking this on in Minn in any case.
