I think Chuck Schumer is a very skillful politician and he has been very effective for the Democrats. Nevertheless, he is a condescending blowhard. Note the phrases "chattering class" and "American people don't care." Such are the linguistic signals that politicians unwittingly send about how they really think.

Yes, that is pretty ignorant of him. Why doesn't the media pick this up and have a hay day with it? He should be getting all kind of flack...unless of course, it is taken out of context, and you need to watch his whole speech to get a different point other than "the American people don't care" point.
The media is the cheering squad for the DNC, so you won't here anything about it from the media. If a Republican had said this, the **** would hit the fan big time.
